noun is adjective

[filling in the blanks]

A is for Author

Nina’s first word was “book.” She received a wonderful education from teachers who emphasized creativity and independent thought — a rare privilege in American public schools these days. In 2007 she graduated from college and attempted to begin a journalism career, but she soon realized that her interest lay not in the subject itself but in the general pursuit of knowledge. Upon hearing then-Sen. Barack Obama propose “an army of teachers” during the 2008 presidential debates, she felt a shiver of excitement and thought, “I want to be in that army!” and the rest is history.

Nina is one semester away from certification to teach social studies and language arts, and she gets a kick out of watching people’s faces when she says she wants to teach middle school. In addition to hanging out with kids, she spends a ridiculous amount of time drinking coffee at cafes within biking distance of home. She enjoys delivering painfully corny puns. Some of her favorite things are infographics, dark chocolate, used bookstores, indie pop/rock, and National Geographic magazine.
